Before we get into the jobs, a quick peek behind the curtain from the employers side of things:
If you’ve poked around on Indeed, you’ve probably see that it’s “free to post a job.” And that’s technically true, in the same way that a casino technically lets you walk in for free.
As a business, you can post a job without paying. It’ll even show up for a bit. Then, almost immediately, it gets gently escorted to page 47 where dreams go to die.
Around that time, the emails start rolling in.
“Your job is getting fewer views than similar roles.”
“Top employers sponsor their listings.”
“This role could be filled faster with a small daily budget.”
And that “small” budget? It’s pay-per-click. Not pay-per-applicant. So a handful of bots, accidental/curious taps, or 2am night owls can burn through a local business’s money real fast.
And when that budget runs out, the job quietly disappears from view. Not because they hired someone. Because the owner looked at their card statement and said, “Absolutely not” before going back to the tried & true Now Hiring sign in the window.
So if you’ve ever felt like, “There have to be more jobs than this,” you’re right. There are. It’s just too expensive for the average local business to afford.
That’s a big reason Job Drop exists. To surface local jobs that are real, active, and often invisible once they fall off the big boards. Especially from smaller employers who don’t have a recruiting department or a giant marketing budget just to stay visible.
